The gaucho Nicole Silveira was, this Saturday (12), in the 13th position in Skeleton in the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing (China) and reached three important feats: the second best Brazilian result in the history of the Games, behind only the snowboarder Isabel Clark , placed ninth at the Turin 2006 Games (Italy). In addition, she got the best result in the sport in Latin America and won the best result in Brazil in the ice sports, as Isabel competed in the snow.
Born in Rio Grande (RS), 27 years old, Nicole Silveira made the first descent in 1min02s58. The second she finished with a time of 1min02s95. Finally, 1Min02s55 and 1Min02s40 were the third and fourth descents, respectively. She totaled 4:10.48 at the Yanqing Track Sports Center.
After the dispute, Nicole, who was responsible for promoting the country’s debut in the sport at the Winter Games, was thrilled with the result.
“It’s very special. My coach and I talked and if he had told me that the goal was to get to the Olympics and finish 13th, in front of big names, I wouldn’t have believed him. Gold at Skeleton was won by German Hannah Neise, with 4min07s69. The Australian Jaclyn Narracott, with a time of 4min08s24, placed the silver medal on her chest. And the bronze went to the Dutch Kimberley Bos, 3min06s47.
