The Government of Rio de Janeiro released today (12) the public notice with the rules for the selection of 600 athletes and parathletes from the state in the Bolsa Atleta Program, which provides for payments of R$ 500 to R$ 5 thousand to help maintain the career of high-performance athletes and the formation of new talents.
The notice with the rules to compete is available at State Department of Sport and Leisure page on the internet. Throughout 2022, the Bolsa Atleta of the government of Rio should receive a total of R$ 6.3 million in investments.
The program includes five categories for athletes and para-athletes according to the competitions in which they have already participated: Olympic & Paralympic, International A, International B, National A and National B. Within each of them there are also different categories according to the result. obtained by the athlete in the competition, in addition to divisions according to age group.
According to the Secretary of State for Sport and Leisure, 85% of the scholarships will be allocated to base athletes and para-athletes, which corresponds to 58% of the resources allocated.
Athletes who already have some public or private benefit will be able to compete, but, if selected, they will be entitled to only 80% of the amount of the scholarship provided for their category.
