Costa Rica confirmed the extradition to the United States of Cholo Chorrillo

The Costa Rican authorities confirmed that Jorge Rubén Camargo Clarke, alias “Cholo Chorrillo”, who appeared on the list of the most wanted and alerted by Interpol for being considered a highly dangerous man, will be extradited to the United States where he must face the justice in a court in Los Angeles, California, since this country was the one requesting it through the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

The Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino, thanked the Costa Rican security agencies for the capture of one of the most wanted, “this person has several processes to face at the national and international level; with this capture, it is confirmed that the strategic alliances between countries is the best tool to counteract organized crime”.

The Director General of the National Police, John Dornheim, described as positive the capture of this highly dangerous individual who, without a doubt, deals a severe blow to criminal organizations in Panama, also sending a clear message that crime does not pay.

Jorge Rubén Camargo Clarke, alias “Cholo Chorrillo”, was the presumed leader of at least two gang groups that operate in the country and are accused of being the alleged perpetrators of homicides, drug and arms trafficking, and was also one of the the most wanted by the National Police of Panama who issued an alert and offered a reward of 50 thousand dollars.

For the year 2005, the first beginnings of the criminal structure in the province of Panama, El Chorrillo corregimiento, 25th street. In 2006, Cholo Chorrillo was captured for the crime against Collective Security “Gangsterism” and other related crimes.

For the year 2010, still detained in La Joya prison, he was acquitted by the investigation that was being carried out for money laundering. In 2018, he was released, modifying the preventive detention measure, due to the impediment of leaving the country without judicial authorization and the periodic report on the 6th and 21st of each month, before the competent authority.

On December 17, 2019, he is identified as the person who ordered the murder of 15 people who were deprived of their liberty in Pavilion 14 of the La Joyita Penitentiary Center and others were injured by firearm projectiles.

And in 2021 it became one of the main objectives of Operation Neptune, an investigation into the Baghdad gang carried out jointly by Panamanian authorities and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
