Dobarro, the judge who seeks one more place for women in the Judicial Council

The labor judge and candidate to join the Judicial Council, Viviana Dobarroconsidered that the establishment of the magistrates You will be able to meet the deadline to elect your new representativeas prompted by the Court’s ruling to expand its members.

“The judges will not have problems despite the meager deadline”pointed out the head of the National Labor Court 21, referring to the 120 days -mid-April- that the Court proposed as a deadline for the Council to expand from 13 to 20 members.

Dobarro added that “the term is short and this makes it especially complex, but the truth is that the will of the Judicial Council has been to comply with the ruling and the entire establishment of judges is advancing in the selection process of the people who will be their representatives”.

Regarding the decision to participate in the elections of magistrates, Dobarro, an official of the Judiciary since 1990, told Télam that “it was not just a personal decision, but rather the space that I am part of, the Celestial Listdecided to propose me as a candidate to represent the identity and values of the list”.

The labor judge went through all administrative positions in the justice system after examination and specialized in Labor Law and gender issues, also teaching at the university level.

Currently, the Council has three male representatives for the magistrates and that, for Dobarro, is part of the gender inequalities that justice suffers. “If we analyze the judicial map of gender, there are also few women judges in the provincial superior courts of justice or in certain chambers and jurisdictions”he highlighted.

Regarding the laws of the Buenos Aires Legislature that transfer privileges and crimes to the City, the candidate of the Celeste List was categorical: “The powers of the National Congress have been arrogated”.

“The Federal Capital is not a province, but rather territory ceded by the province of Buenos Aires for the seat of national authorities” the judge clarified and stressed that “they are unconstitutional (the laws) and affect the organization of the Judiciary”.
