The Network of Bolivarian Parliamentarians announced the work plan that they will develop in the second semester of 2023, during a videoconference meeting where the deputy Asia Villegas, recalled that one of the objectives of this network of women is to deepen the work of the councilors, legislators, community parliamentarians and deputies of the National Assembly (AN).
Villegas highlighted the participation of women in these times, in full exercise of their political and civil rights. In this sense, she recalled that 43 percent of the seats in the Legislative Branch are occupied by women. In this regard, she explained that there are 214 women members of the assembly, of which 26 were elected by national list and 188 by regional list. In addition, she has the second vice presidency of the AN, the secretary and the undersecretary.
The official added that the parliamentarians of the AN also hold the presidency of three permanent commissions, such as that of Families, Freedom of Religion and Cults; that of Indigenous Peoples and that of Commune Development. At the regional level, she mentioned that there is a significant number of women legislators who hold positions in the presidency of the legislative councils or in the vice presidencies; as well as there are others that have responsibilities in the coordination of commissions or in areas of legislative work.
Finally, Villegas commented that the meeting had the participation of representatives from 17 states of the country, while he explained that the Network of Bolivarian Parliamentarians will be installed in Trujillo state on July 22, an activity that will be attended by the entity’s authorities.
