Maduro appointed the new commander of the Bolivarian National Police

During the act of promoting police officers, President Nicolás Maduro called on officials to join efforts to strengthen the National Police System and urged them to establish higher levels of coordination between the Bolivarian National Police and the National Guard


This Tuesday, July 18, the president Nicolas Maduro appointed Brigadier General Rubén Dario Santiago Servigna as the new commander of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB), during the graduation ceremony, promotions and transmission of command of this police force.

During the act, which took place in the Poliedro de Caracas, Maduro thanked the outgoing commander, General Elio Estrada Paredes, “for his performance at the head of the General Command of the Bolivarian National Police.” General Estrada Paredes will occupy, from now on, the general command of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB).

“I thank Elio Estrada for his extraordinary performance as head of the PNB mission accomplished, now I have appointed him General Commander of the GNB,” added the president.

The change within the PNB responds to the movements that Maduro made in the Military High Command, by naming General Estrada Paredes as the new commander of the National Guard. Previously, Estrada Paredes had served as vice minister of the Integrated Police System (Visipol), and was also chief of command of the National Guard Zone in the Capital District.

During the act, Maduro called on officials to join efforts to strengthen the National Police System and urged them to establish higher levels of coordination between the PNB and the GNB.

“The more than 24,000 young people are graduating this July 18 from the National Experimental Security University have my support so that their police career is exemplary in order to protect and serve our people,” said Maduro.
