The Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials of Russia and the Center for Environmental Studies of Cienfuegos (CEAC), of Cuba, agreed to extend the collaboration in the study of materials exposed to tropical climate.
With the signing of the extension of the agreement for five years, between the general director of the Russian institution, Evgueni Nikolaevich Kablov, and the director of the CEAC, Reinaldo Antonio Acosta, on February 9, a new phase of scientific research entered into force bilateral.
The initial document was approved in 2016, in the context of the constitution of the Science, Technology and Environment Group of the Cuba-Russia Intergovernmental Commission and facilitated the creation on the island of a joint station for the study of materials in environmental conditions. of the Caribbean Sea.
As part of the agreement, it was also agreed to carry out joint work in the field of climate resistance research on materials, construction elements and complex technical systems exposed to tropical conditions; as well as biological resistance experiments of materials.
At the signing ceremony of the agreement, Kablov stressed that the Russian-Cuban collaboration in the field of science “has colossal potential and for its realization, we must use all the rich experience accumulated in previous years.”
The project coordinator of the Russian scientific institution, Mikhail Daskovskiy, recently expressed his gratitude to the Cuban counterpart and expressed his confidence that this collaborative project has important work prospects for the future.
According to the deputy director of Science and Technology of the CEAC, Alain Muñoz, the relationship with the Russian Aviation Materials Scientific Research Institute is strategic and necessary for the center’s studies on the concentrations of microplastics in the marine environment.
