The American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine announced this Sunday, through a publication on his Instagram account, that he is already in Cuba to participate in the Santa Maria Music Festivalwhich will take place in Cayo Santa María, north of Villa Clara.
Taking into account the musician’s arrival date – one month before the festival opens, on August 17 – and his repeated trips to the Island, it is likely that Tekashi is one of the organizers and not just a guest artist.
On their social networks, the musician shared a video showing the place where the event will take place. “Here they are building the stage for the singers,” she announced while promoting the date of the concerts, insisting on hers, on the 18th. “Cuba linda, I love you, I love you. We have already arrived here,” she said.
The Santa Maria Music Fest, announced for this summer by the luxurious hotel The One Gallery in the North Keys of Cuba, has withdrawn from its promotions to some of the artists who were originally invited. The disappearance of the official poster for the event by the American rapper Arcángel or the request by the Puerto Rican singer La India to remove her name from the advertisements are reminiscent of the flight of musicians that characterized the Sanremo Festivalorganized by the Cuban authorities in 2022.

The establishment, inaugurated this year, offers all kinds of luxuries for the four days that the festival will last, at a price of $951 for three nights (the minimum stay required) or $1,021 for four nights. Other hotels in the area compete with The One Gallery’s prices, but all are around a thousand dollars.
Also billed as a “cultural conference,” the Santa Maria Music Fest aims to attract foreign visitors during the low tourist season. Among the invited artists are, in addition to Tekashi 6ix9ine, the Puerto Ricans Tito El Bambino and Ñengo Flow and the Cubans Charly & Johayron, Fixty Ordara & Ja Ruley and Isaac Delgado.
Tekashi has been in the news on several occasions due to his proximity to Cuba, where recorded a video in Pinar del Ríofor a production made with the Cuban Lenier Mesa and now they plan to record another.
The rapper was also the center of a controversy for throwing dollars in front of the Packard hotel, in El Prado in Havana, causing a police operation and internet outages. Finally, the authorities denied his participation in the event, which was attributed to two imitators. This did not prevent the official media from launching a campaign against the gesture of throwing money, which characterizes the musician, as an “imperial insult” from the United States.
