Santiago Airport confirms that 31 flights to Iquique have been canceled due to route cuts due to the death of a trucker

The death of the young transporter, Byron Castillo, at the hands of three subjects -all Venezuelan nationals- has generated the rejection of all truckers in the north of the country. These last ones have caused cuts in the routes of the cities of Antofagasta and Iquique in protest mode.

Given this scenario, the Santiago Airport concessionaire reported that 31 flights to the city of Iquique have been cancelled, leaving more than 3,000 people affected.

Despite the fact that the routes in Antofagasta are blocked, no cancellation of flights to that city has been reported.

“We have not had news of cancellations in Antofagasta, which also had blockades, because it has other accesses and people have even walked to the airport. But in Iquique, Route 1 is the only way to access the Diego Aracena Airport”, said the deputy manager of Communications of Nuevo Pudahuel, Manuel Valencia in DNA.

In addition, he added 24 hours that “all flights to Iquique have been canceled, both outward and return. We do not know if there will be operations tomorrow, but it is confirmed that all flights are canceled today”

From the airlines they reported that they are willing to compensate the affected people.
