Delcy Rodríguez met in Brussels with a sector of the opposition

The Vice President of the Republic, delcy rodriguezheld a meeting this Monday in Brussels, Belgium, with one of the sectors of the Venezuelan opposition, which was represented by Gerardo Blyde, chief negotiator of the Unitary Platform (PU).

The meeting was held within the framework of the Third Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) and the European Union (EU).

The presidents of France (Emmanuel Macron), Argentina (Alberto Fernández), Colombia (Gustavo Petro) and Brazil (Lula Da Silva) also participated in the meeting.

Earlier, Colombian President Gustavo Petro He said from the summit that the meeting “is one more meeting of intermediation.”

“The intention is to re-acclimatize the process that allows, through dialogue between the different factions of Venezuelan societies, a democratic agreement to be reached. The Colombian territory is willing to dialogue. In fact, Venezuela is the guarantor of the two peace processes that are being carried out and has been a territorial space for dialogues. To that extent, we are willing to make room for a democratic dialogue on Venezuela.”

This is the second meeting of this format, after a first meeting in November during the Paris Forum on Peace, but in this case the presidents of Argentina and Colombia are joined by the Brazilian president.

Last February, the President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, He ruled out the resumption of the dialogues that his Government was carrying out with representatives of the oppositions until the the agreements reached in Mexico.

“We do not dialogue with maulas,” emphasized the head of state on that occasion, who pointed out the breach of the latest agreements reached at the Dialogue Table installed in Mexico with representatives of the coalition of opposition parties called the Unitary Platform.

“We talk to everyone who has a dialogue and when you talk you have to have a word and you also summon a government as serious as the Government of Mexico and then you say that you don’t remember what you signed, what certainty does it give you to talk with people that does not comply, he pointed out.

On November 26, 2022, during the dialogues between Mexico and the Unitary Platform, Venezuela signed a social agreement for 3.2 billion dollars for social investment, whose funds would be administered by the United Nations (UN).
