The La Francia Insumisa (LFI) movement condemned the bellicose conduct and the policy of interference of some institutions and authorities of the European Union (EU) towards Latin America, in the context of the summit between the European alliance and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) that will host Brussels.
The head of International Relations of LFI, Christian Rodríguez, denounced maneuvers such as the attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of Venezuela and to place the conflict between Russia and Ukraine on the work agenda, in which they hope that Latin American countries take sides.
“We are not naive or have any illusions about this meeting, nor are we blind to the provocations orchestrated from Europe to torpedo it,” Rodríguez warned.
According to Rodríguez, the actions of some in the EU do not contribute to an environment conducive to discussions that should be marked by respect for the sovereignty of the parties.
“If we talk about bi-regional ties and integration, these would only be desirable if they generate mutual benefits and if they take place without interference and with respect for independence,” he said.
From tomorrow until Tuesday, July 18, the III Summit between the EU and Celac will be held in the capital of Belgium, a forum that will return for the first time since 2015, with topics on the agenda that include the ecological transition, digital transformation and the sustainable development with a social approach.
The national government recently, through a statement, rejected the actions of interference and manipulation by representatives of the European Union in the work agenda of the summit in Belgium, a position that was supported by the National Assembly, and which has also supported by various international organizations.
