In statements to the press, the president defended the Urgent Consideration Law (LUC), because he is convinced that it is a “good Law.”
“One year and nine months have passed since the Law has been in force and it did not cause any damage. It is a Law that has a profound vocation for freedom”, he remarked.
The president exemplified the rental guarantee, in this sense, he said that there are people who do not know how long they are going to rent a house and part of it they do not have a guarantee, although Law 14,219 exists, the LUC establishes that these people can rent for seven months, or for a certain time, but if you don’t pay “out and dancing”. In other words, it is a rule that “generates opportunities”.
He added that it also establishes “financial freedom”, because “from the smallest towns they demanded that it not be mandatory, since in many cases the closest ATM is 60 kilometers away.”
He added that he also defends “the freedom to work, because whoever wants to strike can do so, but whoever wants to work can also do so.”
“The LUC did not generate any harm, but rather benefits, because it is a Freedom Law that is not worth repealing. The Uruguayan, deep down, is a lover and fighter of individual and collective freedoms”.

On the other hand, Lacalle confirmed that he will grant the national radio and television network to both the “Yes” and “No” supporters, but indicated that they have not yet been asked for it.
“When we denied it, it was for certain reasons that now do not fit. Now citizens will have to go to the polls and it is good that Uruguayans have information and arguments to make a final decision,” she said.
