Maximum sentence for two drug traffickers

The 3rd Trial Court of Carúpano (Sucre) imposed a 30-year prison sentence on Yogli Justino Zerpa (38) and Antonio Daniel Astrudillo Jiménez (27), for trafficking 940 grams of marijuana, which occurred on June 16 of 2022 in the population of Río Caribe, Sucre state, reported the Public Ministry in a bulletin.

That day, officials of the Bolivarian National Guard who were carrying out patrol work in the area, sighted the men in a building that they used as a sentry box, which is why they called them to a halt.

After the rigorous inspection at the place, the military found two rifles of different calibers, a firearm and two marijuana panels, which yielded 940 grams of the drug, for which those convicted today were detained. They presume that they are part of a group of drug traffickers.

In the trial, the 3rd Prosecutor’s Office of the second circuit of Sucre ratified the accusation against both men for the commission of the crimes of illicit trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances in the modality of concealment, trafficking of weapons of war and ammunition, and association to crime, detailed the Public Ministry.

Once the evidence was evacuated by the prosecutor’s representation, the Carúpano Trial Court 3rd handed down the aforementioned sentence against Zerpa and Astrudillo Jiménez, who remain imprisoned at the GNB headquarters in the eastern state.
