Pedro Castillo assures that he was the victim of a plot and that he is kidnapped

Pedro Castillo is dismissed and arrested after an attempted coup d'état

Pedro Castillo, former president of Peru, assured that he has been the target of a plot that led him to jail where he has been in pretrial detention for 18 months after a failed self-coup.

Pedro Castillo, former president of Peru, assured that he has been the target of a plot that led him to jail where he has been in pretrial detention for 18 months after a failed self-coup.

«I am convinced that the Prosecutor’s Office is a true effective collaborator of this Congress and the de facto government. There has been a whole plan, a plot,” Castillo said this Thursday, July 13, during his virtual intervention during a court hearing in which a protection of rights (amparo) presented by his defense was analyzed.

Castillo argued that his government was the first in the country’s history that refused to submit “to the interests of certain power groups” and “did not give the press what the press asked for.” On the latter, however, he did not specify.

As reported EFE, Castillo expressed that more than being detained, he is the object of a kidnapping that takes place in the Barbadillo prison.

For his part, Judge Juan Carlos Checkley reminded former President Pedro Castillo that he is being held under a preventive detention order that has been ratified by the Justice and that the purpose of this Thursday’s hearing was to “listen to him and attend to the requirements ».
