The publication is from epidemiological week (SE) 5, from January 30 to February 5, and is based on data entered in SivepGripe up to January 31. It indicates that, in the last four epidemiological weeks, cases of covid-19 represent the majority of SARS occurrences, with the proportion of 87.4% of Sars-CoV-2 among positive cases, while 3.9% were registered. influenza A, 0.1% influenza B and 1.4% respiratory syncytial virus.

Regarding the evolution of cases and deaths of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, the bulletin points to a national scenario of interruption of growth in all age groups of the adult population. In the age group from 20 to 29 years, which had already started the process of decline in early January, there is a possible interruption in the downward trend. Among children and adolescents (0 – 17 years) the downward trend started at the turn of the year is maintained.

The flu

According to Fiocruz, in cases associated with other respiratory viruses, there was a significant increase in occurrences associated with the influenza A virus (flu) at the end of November and throughout December, having even surpassed the records of covid-19 in a few weeks.

“Although the data associated with the last few weeks are still partial, there are indications that the influenza epidemic has already returned to basal, post-epidemic volumes, having reached the peak of cases in the last weeks of December, although the situation in each state is different. slightly different for each territory.

Regarding the pandemic, data for the end of December and the first week of January point to the resumption of the scenario of predominance of covid-19 and maintenance of growth so far in some states, however, with signs of interruption in the national aggregate. , indicates the bulletin.

States

The analysis also indicates that 15 of the 27 federative units show signs of growth in the long-term trend (last six weeks) until epidemiological week 5: Acre, Alagoas, Amazonas, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais , Paraíba, Piauí, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio Grande do Sul, Roraima and Santa Catarina.

Another five states show signs of growth only in the short-term trend (last three weeks): Amapá, Maranhão, Pará, Pernambuco and Rondônia.

In Bahia, Ceará, Distrito Federal, Espírito Santo, Maranhão, Pernambuco, Sergipe and São Paulo, there is a sign of a decrease in the long-term trend, and in Ceará and São Paulo there is also a sign of a decrease in the short-term trend.
