Copei’s candidate for the primaries, Roberto Enriquezannounced this Monday, July 10, that this week he will begin an international tour to promote “the defense of the primaries”, in addition to holding a meeting with his economic adviser Steve Hanke and other personalities to discuss the economic proposal he is handling.
«We must promote the defense of the primaries and promote the need for the democratic cause, the political parties, to make a great anti-abstention and anti-division agreement. That we commit to troche and moche to materialize that 80% of Venezuelans who want political change, and that despite all the threats they put at us, it can materialize,” Enríquez said at a press conference.
The Copei candidate explained that he had confirmed his presence at the “Candidates Speak” debate at first, but due to the change of the debate date by the organizers, he will not attend, as it clashes with an event organized by his economic adviser Steve Hanke together with other personalities to talk about the economic proposal that he manages.
«I have asked the Commission, as stated here, with enough time if it was possible to adjust the date so that it did not coincide with this event. They have very kindly explained to me that it is not possible for logistical reasons, “said the candidate, while expressing that in the coming months he expects several debates to take place between the contenders in the primaries to explain his plans.

He said he was convinced that the debates are a right of the voters and a duty of the candidates. “The issue is not only to get out of Maduro, we all want to get out of Maduro, but the issue is also that the country knows where we want to go (…) That these primaries are not a show, that they are not a frivolous event, but that these primaries be an event full of concrete, real and viable proposals for the success of Venezuela”.
In addition, he pointed out that “the whole country is detecting those who want to divide, those who go outside the primaries and those who want to damage the primaries,” and asked to focus on the electoral process despite the various threats against the elections of 22 October.
