Romario de Souza Faria arrived this past Saturday at noon in Santa Cruz and fulfilled a busy schedule, which ended with his presence at the Tahuichi Aguilera stadium, where his son Romarinho played defending the Destroyers jacket, in the match against Magisterio FC.

Said match, played on the night of this Saturday, corresponded to the eleventh date of the First A tournament of the Cruceña Football Association (ACF) and it was with defeat for the Cuchuquis by 1-3.

Romario was a luxury spectator at the main sports arena in Santa Cruz for an association match, as his intention was to show his support for Romarinho, who has been a player for the Cuchuqui team for a couple of weeks.

Also known in the football world as ‘Baixinho’, Romario gave a press conference at the Destroyers headquarters and hours later received a distinction from the Santa Cruz Governor’s Office.

At the Cuchuqui clubhouse he had churrasco for lunch and had planned to play a friendly match between Destroyers leaders and sports journalists, but could not do so due to bad weather and the fatigue of the great protagonist of this day, as he had to comply with a tight schedule.

The return of Romario to his country was scheduled for this Sunday at noon, although it was initially scheduled for Monday.

Romario is 57 years old (01-29-1966), was born in Rio de Janeiro and is a Federal Senator of Brazil. He played for Vasco da Gama, PSV of the Netherlands, Barcelona of Spain, Flamengo, Valencia of Spain, Fluminense, Al-Sadd SC of Qatar; Miami FC and Adelaide United FC from the United States; and América FC from Brazil.

He played 70 games with the national team of his country and scored 55 goals. With the Verdeamarilla he was champion of the Copa América Brazil 1989 and Bolivia 1997, but the most important title with his team was the one he won at the 1994 USA World Cup. He also won the Confederations Cup title in Saudi Arabia in 1997.
