Caracas and Bridgetown advocate the consolidation of a multipolar world

The president of the Republic, Nicolas Maduroinsisted this Saturday on the need to build a new multipolar and multicentric world that allows the consolidation of development poles in Latin America and the Caribbean.

“Latin America and the Caribbean must have a voice where we can see the birth of a world of equals and without empires, where the global South develops in an integrated and united way to strengthen cooperation efforts,” stressed the Head of State at the end of the meeting with the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley, regarding her official visit to the country.

From the Simón Bolívar room, located in the Miraflores Palace, the Venezuelan president recalled that the vision of integration of the region “must guarantee the construction of a new world (…) to be up to the challenges and difficulties we currently face ”.

In this sense, he pointed out that Venezuela and Barbados advocate a world of peace and cooperation, without hegemonism, with respect and equality between peoples “and because the unipolar world is definitely left behind and new international relations are consolidated.”

In this regard, he specified that the region must guarantee “a strong voice and see the birth of a world of equals, respect for international law (…) under the principles of solidarity and complementarity.”

Venezuela appreciates support from Caricom

The Dignitary thanked the forceful support of the Caribbean Community (Caricom), by demanding the lifting of sanctions and the “illegal and criminal blockade against Venezuela”, the Dignitary emphasized that the rebellion and courage of the Venezuelan people has allowed them to “get ahead” and strengthen the different political, economic and social areas of the country.

Likewise, he specified that the strength and moral conscience of the people “is inherited from the liberators who run through our rebellious and dignified blood (…) it is a spiritual force that has led us to face all circumstances and aggressions. We are moving forward with effort, own work, collective conscience, union and peace ”, he concluded.

Petrocaribe

The Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, explained that, during her official visit to Venezuela, she discussed with the Venezuelan president the energy and stabilization opportunities in this matter, a context “in which the Caribbean nation has only been able to survive in the crisis when there is protection”.

Along these lines, he commented on the creation of Petrocaribe by Commander Hugo Chávez, “with which a difference was made for many Caribbean countries. We did not join this project at the time, but we were able to see how it benefited neighboring nations, allowing them to invest in social and capital projects and use those resources in favorable areas of the population.”

He recalled that in recent years “prices have increased to astronomical levels and although they have fallen, however, they may rise again due to the reduction that has been announced, it is in this sense, his efforts (President Nicolás Maduro) to strengthen Petrocaribe it will be welcomed by the entire region, including Barbados.”

He argued that “the sanctions have prevented us from participating in this project as expected by the countries of the eastern and southern Caribbean”, which is why he trusted that it should be seen “how we can work cooperatively and I hope that we will continue the discussions on this matter ”.

Currently, Petrocaribe is made up of Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Venezuela.
