Tacuarembó Hospital will use drones to transport medicines

The Tacuarembó Hospital of the State Health Services Administration will use drones to transport medicines, tests and breast milk from next Friday.

The head of UTE, Víctor Larregui, communicated the news through his personal Twitter account, and announced that This Friday will be the first two tours between the Tacuarembó Hospital and the town of Tambores (50 kilometers); and between the same Hospital and the town of Ansina (40 kilometers).

The director of the Tacuarembó Hospital, Ciro Ferreira, confirmed this to The Observer. “Engineers from the Faculty of Engineering and a Spanish-Uruguayan company are linked to the project,” said Ferreira, who added that “It is the first experience not only in the country, but also in Latin America”.

The Air Force, together with the Dinacia (National Directorate of Civil Aviation and Aeronautical Infrastructure), will arrive in Tacuarembó to carry out the controls for this type of flight. While “The pilots are private and educated, and they will operate from the Hospital”said Ferreira.
