There are certain conditions that can mean that some older adults do not receive the Universal Guaranteed Pension (PGU) in the month of July. This economic benefit, so requested by people over 65 who meet the requirements established by law, has exceptions that must be taken into account.
In the first place, those pensioners of CAPREDENA or DIPRECA, who do not receive the payment of 206 thousand pesos per month, will not be able to access the PGU. This is because the provisions of the PGU benefit are not applicable to the imposing people or pensioners of these pension schemes.
To apply for the PGU, there are different options. You can do it from your cell phone or through the website of the chileatiende.gob.cl portal. Enter your personal data and verify if you meet the requirements to request the benefit. You can also make the application in person at the ChileAtiende offices or through a video call with an official of said organization.
People who can apply to the PGU are those who meet certain conditions, as they are 65 years of age or older, are not part of the richest 10% of the population, and prove residence in Chile for a period of not less than 20 continuous or discontinuous years since they turned 20 years of age. In addition, they must have a period of at least four years of residence in the last five years prior to the date of filing the application. It is also a requirement to have a base pension of less than $1,114,446, determined by the Self-Financed Reference Pension (PAFE) of the PGU.
The maximum amount of the PGU is $206,173, for those who have a base pension equal to or less than $702,101. However, if the base pension is greater than $702,101 but less than $1,114,446, the amount of the PGU will vary.
