Fruit and vegetable smart list prices do not exceed $50

“This Tuesday was a busy day at the UAM, we worked as if it were a Saturday at the Multipurpose Market,” he said.

The Smart List is a set of foods produced in the farming sector, whose consumption is recommended by the Farming Observatory, an undertaking carried out within the framework of the agreement between the General Directorate of Farming (Digegra) of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP ) and the UAM.

In general, the prices are low.

The new list will be valid until Monday, July 10, with the following reference prices:

  • Zucchini $45 per kg
  • Green onion $35 per bundle
  • Cauliflower $40 per kg
  • Lettuce $3 x $50
  • Cabbage $50 each
  • Carrot $40 per kg
  • Lemon $25 per kg
  • Tangerine $20 per kg
  • Green apple $35 per kg

The list is updated biweekly and contains a selection of products that should be purchased, because they have an abundant presence in the market -most of them are seasonally produced- and at a convenient price.

The increase in the intake of these products is a highly relevant benefit, given the inclusion in the diet of more servings of foods recommended by nutritionists.

Daily consumption in Uruguay is 287 grams when the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a minimum of 400 grams.

At the same time, it is a support factor for farmers, who, given a greater demand, would be placing their products more fluidly, a valuable aspect especially in areas in which a large volume has been obtained from farms and whose commercialization is temporary. more difficult.
