Canelita Medina was born in La Guaira on March 6, 1939. She is, without a doubt, one of the greatest exponents of “Son montuno”. She was a Venezuelan through and through, and national pride, she was definitely one of the most complete female voices to emerge in Venezuela to interpret rhythms such as son, guajiras, montunos and rhythmic boleros.
He began his artistic career in 1957 with the “Sonora Caracas” and from there he was with other groups such as “Los Megatones de Lucho” and in “Los Caribes”, by Víctor Piñero, after his performance alongside the “Estrellas Latinas”. ” from La Guaira, Canelita withdrew from the world of presentations for a period of eight years, until the public found her again together with Federico Betancourt in “Federico y su Combo Latino”, there she recorded her first hit: “Besos brujos” .

As a soloist, he recorded the legendary album “Sones y guajiras”, a classic of Venezuelan discography. There was included “Rosa roja”, as well as “I don’t hide my grandmother” and “That’s nothing”, among others.
Later, other albums would come, from which very successful songs stood out, such as: “Quiéreme”, “Triumphant Night”, “Canto a La Guaira”, among others, until the talented percussionist Carlos Emilio Landaeta “Pan con Queso” convinced her to join. to the musical experience of the “Sonero Clásico del Caribe”, with which he recorded two albums, of which songs such as “Tanto y tanto” and “Ta tá Candela” became international hits.
Canelita gave birth to her only daughter on February 28, 1960 in the city of Caracas, whose full name is Trina de Los Angeles Sojo Medina. Trina inherited her passion and love for music from her mother.
