Embassy of Argentina in Venezuela unveils a commemorative plaque to Perón

Venezuela paid tribute to the politician, soldier, writer and former president of Argentina, Juan Domingo Peron49 years after his physical disappearance.

“We feel Peronists in thought, action and the fight for sovereignty and independence,” said the chancellor of the Republic, Yvan Gilduring the unveiling of the plaque “Peron in Venezuela”which will be located in El Rosal, Chacao municipality of Miranda state.

This recognition is granted by Argentina to the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in gratitude for the reception and protection given in the country during the first years of exile, between 1956 and 1958.

“We express our gratitude to the Venezuelan people who welcomed former President Perón with open arms, protected him and welcomed him as part of this people, and that is reflected today. I thank the Venezuelan people for the welcome and protection given to Perón”, affirmed the ambassador of Argentina accredited in Caracas, Oscar Laborde.

Juan Domingo Perón was the founder of the Peronist movement and president of the Argentine Republic on three occasions: 1946-1952; 1952-1955moment in which his overthrow and subsequent exile took place, which led him to live in Venezuela for two years and returning to the southern nation he ruled, from October 12, 1973, until the day of his death, July 1, 1974.
