The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement this Saturday, July 1, in which he rejected the pronouncement of the US State Department, in which he expressed his solidarity with the coordinator of Vente Venezuela, María Corina Machado, after his political disqualification that prevents him from running for any popularly elected position.
“The Government of Venezuela firmly rejects the new attempt of interference by the Government of the United States in its internal affairs, by trying to establish a position in relation to different aspects of the future Venezuelan electoral process of 2024″, indicated the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry through a statement released on Twitter.

Likewise, he said that the “robust” Venezuelan democracy does not require or accept “tutelage” from other nations, “much less from indirect democratic systems and with severe restrictions on participation, imposed by economic interests and deep institutionalized racism.”

“The United States would be better served to apply timely and fair corrections to its electoral system before seeking to make value judgments about the legitimate actions of other countries’ democratic institutions,” he added.
The United States government condemned on Friday, June 30, the decision of the Comptroller General of Venezuela to disqualify, for a period of 15 years, the pre-candidate María Corina Machado.
“Today’s (Friday) decision deprives the Venezuelan people of basic political rights,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statement.
Machado, who is registered to participate in the anti-Chavista primaries prior to the 2024 presidential elections, described political disqualification as “useless”; while the opposition coalition Plataforma Unitaria, who has participated in dialogues with the administration of Nicolás Maduro, also rejected the measure.
The decision of the Comptroller General, announced on Friday by the deputy of the National Assembly 2020 (controlled by Chavismo), José Brito, justifies the measure of disqualification after a patrimonial investigation in which – he assured – errors and omissions were determined in the affidavits of assets evaluated during the corresponding audit.
