The opposition deputy for the party First Venezuela (PV), jose britoconfirmed that since 2015, Maria Corina Machado is disqualified from holding public office, after the Comptroller General of the Nation (CGR) issued the corresponding resolution in July of that year.
Brito had requested before the control entity the status of the opposition leader and, this Friday, from the administrative headquarters of the National Assembly (AN)reported on the response received, highlights the AN website.
Brito clarified that Machado’s disqualification was established in the CGR resolution of July 13, 2015, as a result of the investigation in which he violated the Organic Law of the Comptroller General and the National Fiscal Control System.
In his social media account, Brito said he was “committed to the truth, not to the interests of those who once again try to play to the frustration and failure of our people,” referring to Machado and other leaders of the extreme right.
He affirmed that in 2024, during the presidential elections, the democratic opposition cannot “bet on candidates who are disqualified.”
It must also be remembered that the citizen, then a deputy of the AN, agreed to be the representative of the Panamanian embassy before the OAS, which is absolutely prohibited under Venezuelan law.
In May 2023, in an interview on the program freehand that transmits VTVBrito affirmed that the extreme opposition primaries “will not produce the next presidential candidate.”
“Whether the primaries are going to happen or not, from this process, from this scam, the next candidate for president of the Republic will not come out, because it is more of the same, it is part of the disaster,” said the deputy.
In this regard, the parliamentarian after receiving the Comptroller’s response on the status of Machado on Friday, reiterated that an alternative for real change must be built, which must be given under the premises of sincerity and not a deceptive offer.
