The candidate for the presidency of the Popular Party (PP), Martín Torrijos Espino warned that the Contract Law with Minera Panama implies a transfer of sovereignty over the country’s natural resources, which makes it inadmissible and a reissue of a new type of colonial enclave , because it enshrines a private company “an unusual right.”

In a letter addressed to the President of the National Assembly (AN), Crispiano Adames, dated today, the former President of the Republic warns that the draft Contract Law declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) is not very different from the one that the government negotiated and whose text was submitted to public consultation.
