The National Anti-drug Superintendent, M/G Richard López Vargas, in an interview for the Al Aire program broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), indicated that during the first semester of 2023, 23 thousand 901,009 kilograms of drugs have been seized.
“This is the product of the work of both the Strategic Operational Command of the National Armed Forces (FANB) and the police forces,” the Major General alleged.
At the same time, he stressed that since they are the superintendency, which will soon reach its third anniversary, “the responsibilities increase, now it has a greater scope from the institutional point of view, of exchange and with a strategic analysis center on drug matters that did not exist , said center has all the international and national coordinations”.
He stressed that Venezuela “sets the standard in preventive matters, to date we have 9,138 activities of this type, because there is a deployment at the national level, but there is also a preventive front in the Ministry of People’s Power for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace that permanently develops these activities in all cultural, educational, sports spaces, among others”.
“It is the way in which the State can reach the entire population, and even more so the child population, to take them days to keep them as far away from drugs as possible. We have induction activities towards each of the educational levels, where specific orientations are given according to the educational level so that there is sufficient information capture ”, he added.
On the other hand, the National Anti-drug Superintendent described border relations with Colombia as positive; and he affirmed that cooperation has been fundamental, not only with the brother country but also with other nations.
