In the space, Duque presented Colombia’s initiatives to protect diversity, such as expansion by 16 million hectares of the country’s oceanic protected areas, the program to restore one million corals and the strategies to reduce the use of unnecessary plastics and encourage sustainable fishing.

In addition, the president requested support for the negotiation that is taking place within the framework of the World Trade Organization (WTO) on eliminating harmful subsidies that contribute to overfishing and illegal fishing and emphasized the prohibition of any shark fishing in our territory.
