Face to face

The saddest thing that can happen to a person or a people is to be unable to have a variety of options to know, to analyze, discern and choose; that ideas run out and those that are imposed by family, social or political canons prevail. When everything is stagnant, if something different appears, they try to bury it: thinking becomes something subversive and they grab it with brooms as if it were a harmful plague. This is what happens in Bolivia when different ideas arise from those that come down from power. Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada made a proposal to the country. There were few who valued the approach and many who undid it, not because of their arguments, but based on a series of prejudices.

Goni proposes a liberal country and rejects the election of governors, among other proposals. The approach is controversial, without a doubt, but it is a starting point for Bolivians to see that it is possible to generate ideas and that it can be built from their discussion. The Plurinational State of MAS was revolutionary at the time, it helped towards inclusion, but it missed opportunities for Bolivia to take a leap. The current pro-government model does not have innovative proposals and it would be fantastic if it had them and put them on the table for analysis and discernment. In this way, Bolivians would have visions of the future and could choose the most convenient one.

The worst that can happen is that the country becomes stagnant, believing that only what is already known exists, even if it no longer adds value to the citizens. In this sense, revolutionary proposals are welcome, whatever side they are.
