The infectious disease pediatrician and member of the Panamanian Society of Pediatrics, Ximena Norero, spoke this Friday on Radio Panama about pediatric vaccination for children between 5 and 11 years old and its importance.
He revealed that they have been closely monitoring any type of event or reaction to vaccination, and until this Thursday there were 110,000 doses applied to children.
Regarding the reactions to the vaccine, the doctor stated that they have basically presented the same types of mild reactions that they can present with any other vaccine, such as local pain and some fever.
He stressed that children with chronic diseases are definitely a vulnerable population, while the cases they have had at the Children’s Hospital that have become complicated have been in children with comorbidities.
“All children should be vaccinated, especially because in three weeks we are going to start the school year. Perhaps they are not approaching because of fear or myths, ”said the pediatrician.
