The Bolivian Police presented this Saturday night in the city of La Paz to Diego Wilmer Ch. M.24 years old, for the femicide of a young mother and the infanticide of her daughter, after he was captured hours before in the town of taypiplaya.
The double crime occurred approximately between 05:30 and 06:00 on June 21 inside a small room of only 3×3, located on Antonio Gallardo and Buenos Aires streets, in the city of La Paz.
The victims were identified as Samanta Nicol Cauna, 23 years old, and her daughter, only 2 years old.
In the registry of the place of the event, “the existence of these two bodies with deep cuts at the neck, presumably produced with a sharp weapon,” said Álvaro Álvarez, Commander General of the Bolivian Police.
added that this subject, with no police record, had been in a relationship with the young mother for at least a year and that the baby was not her daughter.
Thus, “these people came and went (in their relationship and the man) when he broke off the relationship with his victim, he took refuge in that 3×3 room, which was not even known to his stepbrothers (since he) came from a dysfunctional family “, he pointed.
Although the sister of the murdered mother said in recent days that this man was her relative’s ex-partner and that he constantly harassed her through phone calls.
According to the police investigation, Diego Wilmer Ch. M. had decided to flee the city of La Paz after having committed his crime and for this he had gone to the Minasa bridge and then began a trip to Los Yungas.
Thus, according to Álvarez, this subject, in the first instance, had reached Yolosa and then went to “the third waterfall” to, supposedly, remember the moments they lived with their victim, since both would also have traveled through those places when they had a relationship.
“From the third waterfall he had gone to Coroico, later to Caranavi, where he would have spent the night and then went to Taypiplaya (where he was finally captured),” he explained.
The police chief reported that, from January to June 24, 43 complaints of this type were filed with the Special Force to Combat Violence, of which 40 cases have been clarified.
In addition, “we have 54 material authors, intellectuals and accomplices apprehended, which means that, in our country’s prisons, there are 84% of people apprehended, 5% are under investigation and 11% would have committed suicide ”, he detailed.
