Driver’s License: what happens if my permit is lost or stolen

The driver’s license It is the only document that enables a person to drive through the streets of Chile, so losing it or having it stolen implies a problem that must be solved as soon as possible. Fortunately, there is a procedure to block the lost or stolen license and request a duplicate without having to take tests.

The first step is to temporarily block the license so that it enters the Civil Registry database as a lost document or stolen. This block is free and lasts two business days. To block the license, you can enter the Civil Registry website or call 600 370 2000. You must indicate the RUT number and the first surname of the license holder’s mother. If the license is found before the term expires, it can be unlocked by the same means.
