Venezuela has 42 generation plants, 36,000 kilometers of lines (substations) and 4,500 circuits, in which the transmission and distribution of energy is carried out in the National Electric System (SEN), which must be attended with a plan of weeding of vegetation.
This was reported by the president of the National Electric Corporation (Corpoelec), José Luis Betancourt, who stressed that if this atypical growth of vegetation makes contact with or approaches the energy parameter, called isolation distance, it could affect the energy service that is provided to the population.
Therefore, he pointed out that it is necessary for the Corporation to work jointly with the country’s governors and mayors, under their municipal ordinances, which establish preventive maintenance in vegetation control, all this under environmental permits and respecting the species conservation.
Chopping and Pruning Plan
In this sense, he stressed that this vegetation control has the Plan Pica y Poda, a program promoted by the National Electric Corporation (Corpoelec), an entity attached to the Ministry of Popular Power for Electric Energy (MPPEE).
In said plan, more than 6,000 men and women are deployed with their respective implements, necessary to carry out the weeding of transmission lines, substations and generation plants located throughout the country.
