Bret crossed the Caribbean Sea 386 kilometers from the northeast of the state of La Guaira, with maximum winds of 95 kilometers per hour and a travel speed of 33 km/h, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Venezuela reported at noon this Friday in your Twitter account.

Its impact zone as a tropical storm extends up to 205 kilometers from its epicenter, with a special emphasis towards the north of its trajectory, the agency specified.

According to the weather forecast, rainfall of “variable intensity, accompanied by electrical activity and gusts of wind is expected in much of the country.”

The more “frequent and intense” rains could be recorded in areas of the Andes, Apure, Barinas, Guárico, north coastal center, northeast, insular region, Amazonas, Bolívar and the Essequibo.

The Inameh estimates rainfall accumulated between 5 to 100 liters per square meter.

José Pereira, president of Inameh, reiterated on Thursday that Bret “will not exactly pass over Venezuelan territory” but some 400 kilometers from the coast, but “it will activate the rainy season.”

Pereira urged citizens to take precautions, especially in high-risk areas and “get advice” with Civil Protection.

The government of President Nicolás Maduro claimed to be taking “forecasts” to deal with emergencies that could cause rainfall.

The National Institute of Aquatic Spaces of Venezuela (INEA), ordered on Thursday suspend the sail of small vessels until further notice and called on “larger” vessels to take precautions against potential adverse sea conditions.
