Businessman Piero Coen ubillawas pronounced after this Friday the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega confiscated two of his properties and presented a formal accusation against him, without specifying the alleged crime.
“Today, June 23, 2023, in the morning, officers of the National Police and the Attorney General of the Republic appeared at different properties that I own in a personal capacity that are registered in the Republic of Nicaragua under my name like Piero Coen Ubilla and my wife’s Jaffa Coen, to take possession of these, ensuring that they now belong to the State of Nicaragua,” confirmed the businessman through his Facebook account.

He pointed out that so far it has not been part of any legal process “nor notified in any way of the existence of any type of process that justifies the actions of the National Police and the Attorney General’s Office that motivate this confiscation.”
“The only thing I know is that my properties are now occupied by the National Police,” added Coen, who assured that “there is no crime of which I can be accused, much less one that threatens my country or Nicaraguan society.” .
He also said that since he assumed the Presidency and CEO of the Coen Group, more than 15 years ago, he has dedicated himself “to working hard to generate jobs in Nicaragua, promoting alliances and businesses that have contributed development and well-being in all the countries where we operate, especially in my beloved homeland, Nicaragua.
He stated that “despite” the confiscation of which he was subjected “I will continue to operate our businesses with the same capacity, responsibility, strength and dignity with which I have always done it.”
Accusation against Coen
After learning that Coen’s properties had been confiscated, it was also learned that since March 2023, the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo began legal proceedings against the Nicaraguan businessman, however, until this Friday, June 23 , the dictatorship gave way to its raid against the owner of AirPak, a leading company in sending and receiving remittances in Central America.

The matter that has been numbered with the series 005259-ORM4-2023-PN, does not specify the nature of the crime that Coen Ubilla is awarded, but details that the victim is the State of Nicaragua.
The Ortega prosecutor Andrea del Carmen Salas Gómez was in charge of presenting the accusation against the Nicaraguan businessman. The case was presented at an initial hearing in the ninth criminal court, with the sanctioned Judge Karen Vanessa Chavarría Morales, one of the many executioners of political prisoners.
This new onslaught follows several threats that the propagandist William Grigsby made to various businessmen, accusing them of acts of corruption and of “financing” the supposed coup attempt against the Daniel Ortega regime.
After this attack against one of the largest businessman in the country, Coen Ubilla thanked “the displays of national and international solidarity that I have received and I am proud to have the support of the vast majority of people who know me.”
