The recent decision of the Supreme Court of Justice of Uruguay (SCJ) to declare unconstitutional the rate of flammables charged by the Municipality of Montevideo (IM) to fuel trucks in the capital has generated a series of changes in the country’s fuel distribution market. In this context, fuel distributors Axion and Disa have decided to join Ducsa to pass on cost reduction generated by this measure at the price of gasoline and diesel at its service stations.

The tax on flammables imposed by the Municipality of Montevideo represented an annual expense of US$12 million for the state company Ducsa, in charge of fuel distribution in Uruguay. However, after the favorable ruling of the SCJ, the authorities found themselves in the task of finding the appropriate way to transfer this cost to the final price of fuel, thus benefiting consumers.

Ducsa took the initiative and announced that the cost reduction would be transferred directly to the sale price at Ancap service stations., a state company that also participates in the distribution of fuels in the country. This measure was applauded by the owners of the service stations in the Ducsa network, who will be able to implement it starting next Saturday at 00:00.

Following the example of Ducsa and the suggestions made at the stamp stations ancapthe fuel distributors Axion and Disa also joined the measure of transferring the cost reduction to the sale price of gasoline and diesel at their service stations.

This action will not only benefit consumers, but will also allow these companies to remain competitive in the fuel distribution market.

New fuel prices from dawn on Saturday

As of Saturday, in addition to the implementation of the measure at Ancap service stations, Ducsa will make changes to the rates of the four stations that it operates directly.

These modifications will be executed with the objective of adjusting the final price of the fuel and reflecting the decrease in the costs generated by the elimination of the rate of flammables.
