Specialized medicine forgot about the “maximum period of 30 days” to care for patients

The deputy of Cologne, Nibia Reisch, held a meeting with the Minister of Public Health, Karina Rando, to raise various issues a few days ago.

One of the most important is the concern that has been expressed by the population regarding the delay in waiting times that exist in some consultations, mainly in some medical specialties in various institutions.

Since 2007 there has been a decree that establishes the maximum waiting times to access the different consultations. For example, if a person is going to request a consultation with a general practitioner, with a pediatrician or with a gynecologist, no more than 24 hours can pass from the moment of the request until they have the consultation.

When there are consultations with different medical or surgical specialties, the maximum period is 30 days.

“Many neighbors tell us that they request consultations with specialists and give them two or three months and this cannot continue to happen,” said the deputy.

Regarding this issue, the President of the Republic signed on March 30 of this year a decree prepared by the Ministry of Public Health that establishes that at the request of the users of a certain health provider, the National Health Board may Exceptionally, authorize changes of provider at any time.

In addition, for some reasons that are established, when the user transfers his address from one department to another or also has difficulties due to a geographic access issue, he can submit the request to change the provider when there are situations originating in assistance problems with the provider. that lead the user to a loss of confidence and is justified.

You can also request a change of member when there are accessibility difficulties.

“The decree was signed and two months passed, so we asked the minister for the regulations so that citizens have a tool also in the face of disagreement or non-compliance,” said the legislator.

At the meeting, the deputy also raised issues related to mental health and addictions. Regarding addictions, there is a project presented by the legislator that will be voted on in the next few days by the Chamber of Senators referring to compulsory hospitalization.

At the meeting, he also raised the need to regulate the fibromyalgia law, flash glucose meters and the price of food for products suitable for celiacs.
