The first edition of the Club World Cup expanded to 32 teams, scheduled for 2025, will be hosted by the United States, announced this Friday the International Football Federation (FIFA).
The United States will organize this event one year before hosting, along with Canada and Mexico, the first World Cup expanded to 48 teams. “The decision was made after taking into account that the United States has demonstrated its exceptional ability to organize competitions of a global nature. In addition, the designation will allow to take advantage of the synergies created with the celebration of the FIFA World Cup 2026, from which they will benefit both competitions and the development of football in North America,” FIFA explained in its statement, stressing that the attribution of the venue was made “unanimously” in a session of its Council held by videoconference from Zurich (Switzerland).
