Atheyna Bylon advances in boxing at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games

Angel Valdes | June 22, 2023

The Panamanian boxer Atheyna Bylon had no problem defeating Cindy Claudio of the US Virgin Islands by a wide unanimous decision in the weight of -75kg in her debut at the Central American and Caribbean Games El Salvador 2023

From the first round, Bylon imposed her fighting style from long distance without allowing Cindy Claudio any opportunity to reach her clearly.

With his right jab and closing with the straight left Bylon maintained control in both the second and third rounds leaving no doubt of his technical superiority in this bout.

The decision was only a protocol and two judges saw her win 24-30, while the other two judges gave cards of 27-30 and the last one saw the match 25-30

Bylon advances to the quarterfinals where she will face the Venezuelan Maryelis Yriza next Sunday, June 25. It should be noted that in the 2022 Bolivarian Games in Colombia, both faced each other for the gold medal, leaving the Panamanian boxer with flying colors.
