AN approves reform of the Organic Law of Communal Councils

This Thursday the National Assembly (AN) of Venezuela approved by a qualified majority the Organic Law Project to Reform the Organic Law of Communal Councils.

The Law was sent to the National Executive for its approval, in accordance with the provisions of article 213 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

In this regard, Jorge Rodríguez, president of the parliament, congratulated the deputies who were in charge of the consultation process to carry out the reform of the norm, as well as the spokesmen of the Communal Councils, recently renewed in their spokespersonship, because “now they have a fundamental instrument (…) renewed and adapted to the new times of the Bolivarian Revolution,” he said.

Similarly, Rodríguez highlighted the presence in the AN session chamber as special guests accompanying the discussion of the Law to spokespersons from 19 communes of Caracas, La Guaira and Miranda state, among them: the Antonio José de Sucre, Reborn from Vista Alegre and Simón Bolívar.

Deputy Willy Medina, from the government party PSUV, said that the reform is the product of 10,000 public consultations at the national level through assemblies in communal territories and electronically, which generated more than 8,000 proposals, considered to adapt them to the times. current.

“The first law of the Communal Councils was approved in 2006, and three years later the people demanded changes that led to its first reform in 2009, which gave it an organic character. Today, 13 years later, we are reunited with the community people and, with their experiences, we adjust the parameters of this Law on Community Councils,” added the parliamentarian, quoted by the AN website.

The purpose of the new legal instrument is to regulate, constitute, confirm and organize the operation of the Communal Councils as a territorial entity and communal government instance, which guarantees the participation of the communities in public policies and their development.

Fisheries and Aquaculture Law

Further early, The plenary session of the parliament also approved, in its first discussion, the draft Law for the Reform of the Decree, with the Rank, Value and Force of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Law.

The proposal was presented by the deputy to the AN, Maire Castillo, who highlighted the work carried out by the Bolivarian Revolution to make the fishing sector visible.
