Fuerza Vecinal rules out running a candidate for primaries, although it does not rule out consensus

The decision not to participate in the primaries had been denounced in mid-May by the regional leadership of Fuerza Vecinal in Zulia. Now, the leadership of that party in the state of Trujillo asks that support be proclaimed “by consensus” in favor of María Corina Machado, pre-candidate for Vente Venezuela

The national leader of Fuerza Vecinal and mayor of the Baruta municipality, Darwin González, assured that his party will not nominate a candidate for the primaries, scheduled for October 22, although he did not rule out reaching a consensus in the future on supporting the winner in these elections.

«Regarding the Neighborhood Force, it has no candidate. Remember that we are a very young party, we are barely two years old and we have focused more on local power, which are mayors, governors, remember that to be able to walk you have to first crawl,” said the mayor.

González explained that support for the winning candidate will be a decision that must be made within the party in the future. “Now we have to wait for the candidates who register, what the primaries are going to be like to make that decision.”

The decision not to participate in the primaries had been denounced in mid-May by the Zulia regional leadership. Now, the leadership of that party in the state of Trujillo asks that the support of Fuerza Vecinal be proclaimed “by consensus” in favor of María Corina Machado, pre-candidate for Vente Venezuela.

In the communiqué of the Trujillo leadership, signed by four mayors and seven leaders of that region, it was assured that it is convenient to generate “a national agreement to avoid the division of the opposition.”

The mayor of Baruta also expressed his support for the initiative of the National Primary Commission to request support from civil society institutions for the activation of polling stations.

“I saw with good eyes what the help of the CNE was going to do to look for very broad and plural primaries, well since that possibility is not there, there are organizations such as unions, the church that can collaborate,” he said.
