The Executive Branch sent this Tuesday to Parliament the bill by which is exonerated from Value Added Tax (VAT) to the sale of bottled water (mineral waters and sodas).
The validity of the exemption will be until the Executive Power ends the water emergency declared on Monday, June 19 for the metropolitan area. ANDThis “due to the drought situation that affects most of the courses and main water reserves used to supply the population” of this area, says the initiative.
The project “aims to reduce the price for final consumption of mineral waters and sodas, taking into account the limitation on access to running water for many of its usual uses that the water crisis has caused,” adds the official text.
The decree that sets the Imesi rate for bottled water at 0% was also published
Bottled water pays 22% VAT; and 10.5% of Imesi per liter on a fictitious price that today is $22.18.
