Acodike workers stop this Tuesday, meet with the MTSS
The Ancap Union Coordinator announces that the Acodike workers will carry out a partial strike this Tuesday and will mobilize towards the headquarters of the Ministry of Labor, where a tripartite meeting will be held due to the conflict that has already been going on for 80 days due to the dismissals determined in the month of March.
In the negotiation on Tuesday, the workers will seek to “find a negotiated solution with the company” and report that they will present a new proposal to find a solution, according to a statement issued on Monday.
The meeting will begin at the Ministry at 11:30 am and the workers of the unions that make up the Ancap union coordinator will gather there to give their support.
After the layoffs were known, the company Acodike issued a statement in which it indicated that “the energy market in Uruguay is changing” and that, within this framework, the players in the sector seek to provide the best service to their users, generating investments and improvements. .
«Acodike has been raising these issues for many years and working consistently so that these changes are gradual. Unfortunately, in this case reality has shown that, despite these efforts, certain roots of wanting to keep jobs that do not add value to the customer, force structural changes to maintain the survival of the company in a responsible manner, making the company itself is competitive and in this way guarantees the source of employment for those people who occupy the necessary positions to cover the volume of current demand, that is, positions that add value in the productive chain of the sector”.
