A total of 4,702 cartridges of different calibers were seized at the Portón Amarillo unauthorized crossing (trail), located in the Aldea La Mulata, Ureña, Táchira state, according to military sources.
This procedure was carried out by members of the Carabobo Motorized Infantry Battalion 212 and Detachment 212 of the Bolivarian National Guard.
The bullets were transported on a Bera SBR200 motorcycle, license plate AF6C51F, manned by Jefry Vílchez Mosquera, who was arrested.
Among the batch of cartridges that they transported in four boxes, there are 1,800 that fit in 7.62×51 mm caliber rifles, as well as 2,902 5.56 mm caliber.
Vílchez Mosquera came from Colombia and was heading towards San Cristóbal (Táchira). He was handed over to the Public Ministry to be prosecuted for illegal possession of war material, the source explained.
In the aforementioned border entity, the military carried out another procedure with the seizure of war material. Specifically, agents from Detachment 212 of the GNB stationed at the Peracal checkpoint seized 26 empty 16-gauge metal shells and one hundred and ninety units of bronze primer. All this added up to 375 grams of gunpowder.
The material was transported by Natanael Figueroa Diez, who was a passenger. The man was placed under the order of the Prosecutor’s Office where he is accused of illegal trafficking of objects or substances for the manufacture of ammunition, the report says.
And in Tocuyito (Carabobo), the military retained a .38 revolver and 22 cartridges carried by Franklin Luis Oquendo Medina, Jim Frank Hernández Gaitán and Argenis Godoy Rivero. These subjects are members of Los Triki Taka and will be prosecuted for the crime of illicit possession of a firearm, according to a report from the Urban Security Detachment (Desur) 41 of the GNB.
The attorney general, Tarek William Saab, reported through his Twitter account that Jefry Vilchez “remained at the order of the 33rd prosecutor’s office and charged with the Crime of Trafficking in War Ammunition and Treason against the Homeland.”

- In the San Miguel sector, Rafael Urdaneta municipality (Cúa), Miranda state, officials from GNB Detachment 442 seized a 12 shotgun and five cartridges of the same caliber. The weapons were carried by Edgar Alfonso Cabrera Ramos, a member of the El Chúo criminal group.
- Desur 11, a GNB group deployed in the Las Tuberías sector, Maracaibo (Zulia), seized twenty 9mm caliber cartridges and a telephone set, hidden in a bag belonging to two alleged members of the Los Causas criminal group, identified as Luis David Patino Barbosa and Ángel González Ruiz.
- And in the Nueva Taborda sector, Puerto Cabello (Carabobo), the military seized a 9mm pistol from César Manuel Barrios Romero and Jesús Alberto Mendoza Falcón, members of the Los Assaulters group.
