The weightlifters Cubans returned to the podium this Saturday, in the penultimate day of the Havana Grand Prix that is held at the Pabexpo fairgrounds.
Juan Columbié, in the 109 kg division, won two silver medals and one bronze; while Elizabeth Reyes, of the 81 kg, also climbed to the podium, adding three bronze metals.
Columbié lifted 160 kg in the snatch to win silver, and 195 kg in the clean and jerk, which earned him bronze. In this way, he accumulated a biathlon of 355 kg, which guaranteed him second place in the fight.
The event was dominated by the South Korean Yunseog Jin (165/196/361 kg), while the third place in the total went to the Peruvian Hernán Viera (145/200/345 kg), according to review the digital site Hit.

“I have better results in the snatch and clean and jerk, but I took care of myself because the San Salvador 2023 games are close, our main immediate competition,” he commented. I columbia to Hit after the competition.
“Many of those who traditionally compete in the division preferred to do so in the 102 kg division to look for points, because it will be in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The 109 kg division will not,” added the Cuban weightlifter.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth Reyes (81 kg, did 101/128/229 in a test in which she was in excellent shape for the upcoming Central American and Caribbean Games.
The gold in the biathlon went to the Taipeyan star Ying-Yuan Lo (106/129/235 kg) while the silver went to the Ecuadorian Dayana Mina (103/130/233), who had won the clean and jerk.

In this way, Cuba increased its harvest in the Grand Prix, and now has three golds —achieved by Osmel Argote in the non-Olympic 55kg division—, five silvers and six bronzes.
This Sunday will be the last date of the event, and in it the strongmen will compete in the super heavyweight divisions of more than 87 and more than 109 kg. For Cuba, as clarified Hitonly Marifelix Sarría will intervene.
