Cuban singer and songwriter Haydee Milanes will premiere this Friday in Miami a version “in salsa time” of “Yolanda”, one of his father’s best-known songs, Pablo Milanes.
On this version of one of the fundamental themes of Milanés and of the Ibero-American song for years, he explains that the arrangement is by “Leo”, the pianist of the band with which he currently plays.

The premiere, according to a report by efewill be this Friday at the Flamingo Theater Bar, the same stage where he performed last March in a concert dedicated to his father, with all the seats previously sold.
Pablo Milanés wrote “Yolanda” in the seventies and included it on the album I’ll stayfrom 1982. It is dedicated to Yolanda Benet, his wife between 1969 and 1973.

“Yolanda” will not be the only version of a well-known song by a singer-songwriter taken to salsa.
She will also premiere another of a song that she previously recorded on a tribute album to Joaquín Sabina, “Que se llama soledad”, and that she now sings like salsa with a lineup made up of piano, trumpet, tumbadoras, drums and minor percussion.
During the concert, the singer-songwriter will travel back to her first album, haydee (2004), composed, arranged and produced by Descemer Bueno in which he had Kelvis Ochoa as a guest, who was part of the Habana Abierta project. From that album he has selected “Tú y yo”.
“It is the song with which I made myself known. Those songs like ‘Dragonfly’, ‘Tanto amar’, ‘Tú y yo’ have always been with me in some way, since that first album”, she says.
Also, he advances, the night will have “a surprise”, which he intends to keep but it escapes from his mouth. It is “a special guest”, the Cuban singer-songwriter Pavel Urquiza, well known for the duet he did with Gema Corredera.

Haydée Milanés arrived in Miami nine months ago, after being “almost completely censored by the media” in her country, according to what she told the Spanish agency.
“The times I have come since 2010, I have seen how the city has grown culturally. A lot of people have come here and I imagine they will continue to arrive, ”she said.
The death of her father last November has made Haydée throw herself “into doing concerts, composing and also planning new projects”.
“It was pretty tough because I was here. I couldn’t say goodbye to him, as it was also quite hard to leave Cuba and start this whole adaptation process. They are those moments in life that sweep everything away, like a storm ”, he confesses:“ But, I think that those moments also have a side of rebirth ”.

His repertoire is expressed in discs such as Words (2014), where he collected an important part of the boleros and songs of the well-known author Marta Valdés, while with To happiness (2010), she made her debut as a composer, arranger and producer.
In Love, from 2018, he performed many of his most important songs as a duo with his father, including some not too recurring in his presentations, such as “El 405 de nunca” or “Hoy la vi”. The result was wonderful.
