The Tariquía subcentral, the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University, the Bar Association and the Federation of Professionals of Santa Cruz, in addition to other self-convened sectors of Oruro, El Alto, the Yungueño Youth, the Montereña delegation and plantaformas, such as Otra Bolivia es Possible, they issued statements of support for the president of the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights of Bolivia (Apdhb), Amparo Carvajalwho has been holding a vigil for 15 days in rejection of the takeover of the national offices.
“The permanent violation of human rights (by) the national government has no limitnot satisfied with co-opting representative organizations and defenders of civil society, but also the shameless appropriation of the Ombudsman’s Office, now they want to take away one of the few voices that we have left like the Apdhb”, says part of the manifesto of the Subcentral de Tariquía .
In the document they highlight the work of Carvajal and describe her as “an exemplary and brave woman who is governed as a defender of our rights”.
The vigil installed by the octogenarian activist has already been going on for 15 days. The vice president of the Santa Cruz Bar Association, Félix Oros, visited the camp and showed his support for Carvajal, who said that he spent long and painful nights.
“We were present to express all our support and support for this great woman and fighterAmparo Carvajal, who is the victim of the furious attack by the government system that seeks to dismantle institutions such as the Human Rights Assembly, to act freely against those who oppose them,” said the lawyer.
In the week, the justice issued two adverse rulings for Carvajal. The first was raised against the Police because they observed “protection” during the “subjugation” of the leadership of Édgar Salazar. The second amparo was for the seizure of the offices.
The Ombudsman, Pedro Callisaya, urged Carvajal and Salazar, who separately claim to represent the Apdhb, to seek ways of solutions that put an end to the conflict of that institution.
The courts suggested calling a congress first through conciliation and, if not possible, with the help of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), which would deal with the elections.
