Minseg, Meduca and the Criminological Policy Council start a Preventive Plan in San Miguelito Schools

Directors of educational centers, teachers and students of the IPT of San Miguelito, participated in the launch of the “Teaching and Training Pilot Plan” of preventive and educational programs, which will help reduce school dropouts.

These projects and programs are part of an inter-institutional work carried out by the National Council for Criminological Policy of the Ministry of Public Security (Minseg), through the 13 institutions that comprise it.

The Executive Secretary of Criminal Policy of the Minseg, Héctor Wong, indicated that work will be done in 20 educational centers in the San Miguelito district, with middle and high school students between 12 and 18 years of age as a first phase and later with primary school students.

In this educational activity, Wong had the opportunity to explain Law 328 of Criminological Policy, which will contribute to strengthening the different programs and projects aimed at children, youth and adults, in order to prevent them from making crime their way of life.

For her part, the National Director of General Basic Education of the Ministry of Education, Lizgay Girón, indicated that in 2021, 15,283 students dropped out of the educational system and 12,219 in 2022.

Girón emphasized that Meduca maintains educational programs to reduce school dropouts, such as the “School Retention and Reinsertion Network”, where students are given the opportunity to complete two school years in a single period.

On this first day, 100 students were given motivational talks on the consequences of early pregnancy, zero violence, resistance to gangs, and bullying.

While teachers were explained the programs promoted by Meduca to prevent school dropout and alternative methods of conflict resolution (mediation).

The person in charge of the Police for Children and Adolescents in the San Miguelito area, Eduardo Yanguez, indicated that the National Police has preventive programs such as “Great”, “Dare”, “Youth Against Crime, Safe Boy and Girl”.

During this day, representatives of the National Council and the National Secretariat of Criminological Policy, officials of the Ministry of Education, units of the National Police for Children and Adolescents and the National Aeronaval Service (Senan) also participated.
