The provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo affected the electrical service today, Thursday, due to a breakdown in the Santiago Industrial Substation, they report. media state.

As a result, 172 thousand 757 Santiago clients, grouped into 52 circuits, suffered the interruption of the service during the morning and part of the afternoon, explained Carrión, Leonel Carrión, director of the Electric Company in Santiago de Cuba.

It was an error by one of the operators that caused a short circuit in the network, he said.

The event occurred when manipulating one of the disconnectors of the transformer installation in the midst of maintenance work, Carrión clarified, quoted by the Cuban News Agency.

The manager confirmed the affectation of the substations of San Luis, Santiago Norte, Santiago Oeste and part of the Guantánamo province. Likewise, the mobile generation installed in the Renté Thermoelectric Plant, which contributed 100 megawatts (MW) to the system, was stopped.

In the midst of this situation, the explosion of one of the switches of the Héctor Pavón substation affected seven other circuits, the causes of which are still being investigated.

According to the daily report of the National Electroenergetic System, unit 2 of the Felton CTE, unit 2 of the Santa Cruz CTE, Guiteras CTE and unit 5 of the Renté CTE are out of service due to a breakdown.

In addition, unit 5 of Nuevitas and unit 6 of CTE Renté receive maintenance, while the limitations on thermal generation (223 MW) are maintained.

With this forecast, an impact on the service of 702 MW is estimated at this time, despite the fact that unit 1 of the Moa fuel engine with 18 MW has entered.
