Legislative Commission will inspect the Mutún in July

At the request of deputy María René Álvarez, the Amazon Region Commission of the Lower House approved the inspection of the Mutún project, scheduled for the first week of July.

Álvarez made the request before the constant complaints received from workers of the Mutún Steel Company (ESM), for labor mistreatmentlack of endowment of work material and hiring of Chinese subjects to the detriment of the Bolivian technical workforce.

Likewise, the legislator representing the region sent a Written Report Request (PIE) to the Ministry of Mining, to find out the progress of this project that has been stalled for decades, “to the detriment of the Germán Busch province, in Santa Cruz.”

The inspection will aim verify the environmental situation of the iron projectthe status of the installed complex and the working conditions of Bolivian workers.

In the request it was suggested that, in addition to the deputies of the commission, representatives of the Ministry of Mining, Ministry of the Environmentthe Government of Santa Cruz and the Autonomous Municipal Government of Puerto Suárez.
